City of London District hosts annual Orange Remembrance Parade in London.  



The Most Worshipful Grand Master of Ireland, MWGM Bro. Edward Stevenson joined distinguished Brethren from the Houses of Parliament Loyal Orange Lodge and the City of London District at Westminster Abbey for the annual wreath laying ceremony at the tomb of King William III on Saturday November 10th.


Lord Laird of Artigarvan (Deputy Master of the Houses of Parliament LOL) laid a wreath and delivered the eulogy on behalf of the Houses of Parliament Lodge. Distinguished Brethren in attendance included MWGM Bro. Edward Stevenson, W. Bro. Lord Laird, Rt. Wor. Bro. John Stockman (City of London District Master), Grand Historian (of the Grand Orange Lodge of England) Bro. Michael Phelan HDGM, Bro. David Burnside (former Member of Parliament for South Antrim),  Bro. David Burke, and City of London District Chaplain W. Bro. James Lockwood.

Later in the afternoon, Brethren joined the Grand Master of Ireland MWGM Bro Stevenson and the City of London District for their annual Remembrance Parade through central London.

The route included Millbank, Parliament Square and Whitehall where the Grand Master laid a wreath at the Cenotaph.

Following the wreath laying in Whitehall, the parade continued into Pall Mall where Bro. David Burke laid a wreath at the Duke of York Pillar (Frederick, Duke of York having been a Grand Master of the Loyal Orange Institution of England). The parade concluded in St. Jamesís Square, where (as is tradition), Rt. Wor. Bro. John Stockman (City of London District Master) laid a wreath at the WPC Yvonne Fletcher memorial.


The Grand Master then called for a minuteís silence in memory of Bro. David Black and all those who had paid the ultimate sacrifice in service of our Great Nation.
